On September 21, 2021, the Mayor of the City of El Monte presented Thai CDC with a commendation in the city’s council chambers recognizing us for our work to liberate 72 Thai garment workers in 1995 from the makeshift garment factory that enslaved them. The factory was located in the City of El Monte. The ceremony also served to celebrate freedom and the eradication of slavery in the City of El Monte from here on out.
