Covered California is the state agency in charge of the health insurance marketplace for people who live in California. Approximately 5.3 million Californians will receive help in reducing the cost of their monthly health insurance from the federal government on the Medicaid Covered California (Covered California Health Insurance Marketplace). United States citizens and lawful residents in California can register to purchase health insurance through Covered California from October 2013 until March 2013, and from October 15 through December 7 of each year in order to receive coverage The policy started on 1 January 2013. Californians can apply online, by mail or by phone.

You can buy health insurance that meets your needs and fits your budget through this organized marketplace, Covered California. Individuals or families with low income to moderate-income are eligible to receive help in reducing costs. You will not be denied health coverage just because you have a pre-existing condition. The new health care plan will cover preventive health care and medical screening, such as mammograms, colonoscopies, vaccination etc.

In addition, small businesses can purchase health insurance for employees through the Small Business Health Options Program, or (SHOP) of Covered California, and can be eligible to receive a tax deduction of up to 35% in 2014 and up to 50% in the year 2016 for business owners who provide health insurance to employees.
